wimlink is a new kind of organization that develops, supports and promotes women in media and tech.
Founded in late 2007 in New York, wimlink offers networking, entrepreneurship, professional development and leadership events as well as a variety of topic-area learning clinics highlighting successful women in the New York City area. wimlink’s events are targeted both to women working in the corporate sector, as well as female entrepreneurs and employees from seed, start-up or growth stage technology ventures of under 50 people.
To date, we have hosted ten well attended formal events as well as a series of informal networking mixers, and has received product and venue support from a variety of vendors including Annheiser-Busch, oops wine, The Economist, Ole Henriksen (skincare), Jonathan Products (haircare), PR Newswire, Samsung and Tipping Point Partners.
We currently have an active mailing list of over 5000 women and 1300 members on our meetup (New York) platform, with a range of backgrounds including VP and above within major media organizations like NBC, ABC, CBS, Forbes, women from the venture capital and finance industries as well as founders of start-up and growth stage technology ventures.
And yes - if your business has a web or tech component, that means you're included in the definition of 'tech' :)
